Clean Sport

Fencing is rooted in respect, sportsmanship, and integrity—values that are undermined by the use of performance-enhancing substances or methods. Anti-doping is critical to protecting the health of athletes and the fairness of competition.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sets global standards through the World Anti-Doping Code and the Prohibited List, which is updated annually. As a signatory of the Code, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) implements a comprehensive anti-doping program, ensuring adherence to Clean Sport principles.

The FIE partners with the International Testing Agency (ITA) to manage out-of-competition testing, risk assessments, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), and education programs. Athletes and support personnel are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the FIE Anti-Doping Rules and Operational Instructions, which can be found here.

By committing to Clean Sport, we honor the integrity of fencing and safeguard the future of our sport.

Testing

In accordance with FIE rules (o.106 - o.107) anti-doping testing will be carried out during the event. The fencers will be selected randomly by the testing team.

It is the responsibility of all athletes to be aware of the rules and familiarise themselves with National and International policies.
